Life is definitely better in a bikini on the beach?

Believe it or not but it has been 1 year or probably over since I was last at a beach. Considering that the beach is one of my happy places, that’s definitely 1 year to long. I had planned to head out to Florida after my finals but Covid-19 ruined that. When things started opening up again, it was definitely time to head out. I had made plans with 2 friends to drive down to Florida but then y’all know how group travels can turn into solo travel. When I was about giving up. There sprung a light, all my lock down bikini shopping wasn’t going to waste after all. I got a drift of summer at Atlantic beach Jacksonville.

Atlantic Beach Jacksonville

A friend had business down in Jacksonville in Florida and when he asked if I was willing to help, I definitely jumped on board. He had been awarded a contract back in Nigeria and was executing it here in the U.S. When I had plans to head out to Florida, I had solely intended on traveling to Miami but I thought Jacksonville will definitely do for now. I had only heard of Jacksonville in Twilight and I only looked forward to it because of the beach opportunity. Jacksonville was not as fun as I thought it would be, I was only there for 2 nights but I guess that’s not enough to make an informed opinion.

My friend was a total bore and he brought up his fear of Covid at every suggestion I brought up. I eventually ended up going to the beach where I met some people from the DMV area  with whom I bonded with for a bit. I would say I pretty much  traveled solo as I figured out all I did myself.

I made amazing memories at the beach, I fell flat off the bike I had rented (the bike had breaks on pedals instead of the handle bars like bikes I rent in D.C), I took a plunge in the ocean just like my last time in Sao Tome here, I lost my dedicated summer sunshades and got quite a number of compliments on my dress.  I would say the people I met Jacksonville were quite courteous, they actually say hi to strangers unlike in big cities.

In summary Jacksonville was pretty calm and ok. Navigating the airport and TSA check during my trip was pretty fast, there weren’t a lot of people traveling and most people had their masks on. I enjoyed getting out and around even though it was just for a bit and can not wait for my next time in Florida. This time, I really hope my friends turn up!

In other news Happy New Month and Welcome to the 2nd half of the year. Here is to hoping the next half is a whole lot better than the first. I am also hoping I get to wear my remaining bikinis before summer is over ??‍♀️.
