You must get the New Electronic Yellow Card before April 2019

If you plan on traveling out of Nigeria especially to a destination that requires yellow fever vaccination, you definitely have to get the new yellow card as the old ones expire on 1st April 2019. If you travel frequently, I’m sure you are tired of this right but it’s better to be safe than sorry, take out all necessary precautions to avoid unnecessary delays and missed flights.

Some people got a new yellow card as recent as November 2018 but these might still not valid, hence the first step would be to confirm whether your yellow card is valid. On the top right corner of your card , there’s a 6 digit number, visit the Nigerian Yellow Card website here and check if your yellow card is valid. If you get the message below, you can stop reading ?, you are good to go.

Yellow card in Nigeria

However, If you get the information message below.

new yellow card

then you need to keep reading, pay attention and follow the following 5 Simple steps

  1. Visit www.yellowcardnigeria.com here
  2. Click on “Register”
  3. Fill in your personal information in the space provided
  4. Click on Pay “Now” generate remita and pay N2,000 online or at the bank
  5. Take your payment receipt or acknowledgement to any port health office to get vaccinated and obtain the new yellow card.

In Lagos, the port health authority is located close to the Airport Toll, most public transporters know the place as NACHO, so if you are headed there by public transport ensure to communicate this to the driver or bus conductor, if lost or confused just ask at the airport toll gate, the last time I was there, there were no signs outside.

The New Yellow card requirement is not limited to Nigerians and includes Foreigners in Nigeria. The new yellow card is an Electronic Card and the genuineness of your card can now be confirmed on the internet within split seconds. Please note that you must be vaccinated at least 10 days before your expected date of travel.

Ensure you go with your International Passport and a Photocopy, be sure you have everything you need or be ready to pay more. I recommend that you are there a bit early as the crowd grows in the afternoon. However, if you are ready to part with some change, the process is a lot faster, you just might also be able to help a friend if you have the necessary documentations but you must also have some more bills to spare.

If you found this post useful, I would really love that you take out few minutes to nominate me in Category 13 Best Travel Blog (www.findingae.com) and Category 14 Young tourism personality of the year (Anu Eunice) for the Nigerian Tourism Awards. Voting closes on 15TH August 2019 and it would really mean a lot and definitely motivate me to continue doing this.

Hello my question is , do we get vaccinated at the place in NACHO?
Also, if I would rather pay at the Bank instead of using remita what’s the procedure before I head on out to the NACHO (port health authority) for the Vaccination and receiving of my new Yellow Card .

    Thank you.

Hi Lizzy! I didn’t pay at the bank, so I am not aware of the procedure. However it is easier and faster to pay with your card. I recommend that. Also you get vaccinated at the place
