Hiking Lions Head

I am fitness enthusiast just like it says in my bio. I love all things related to adventure and hiking is one of the tops on my list. There are a lot of mountains and Hiking terrains in South Africa but having made a bit of research, I discovered that Lions Head is quite an easy one, a lot of people go up there every time and there is no need for a tour guide hence I decided to do it.

On the morning of my hike, I got dropped off at the foot of the mountain as I had to go alone since my friends who were locals had work and other things to attend to. Just as I set foot, I saw a couple of guys who were also travelers ran up to them and asked if it was ok to join them and yeah I did. Armed with a selfie stick, pull overs and snacks I was ready to conquer.

I have no idea why the mountain is called Lions Head and the closest  I got was a mirage which seemed like a lion on it’s haunches.

The hike was really fun and we stopped at intervals just to get a view and take pictures of the awesome city of Capetown!

I could also see the aerial view of Robben Island which I blogged about here.

40minutes into the hike, I was a bit tired as I hadn’t hiked in a while but I was determined to complete.

Moving further up, I saw this guy with a walking stick descending the mountain, this gave me all the boost I needed to proceed.

After a couple of hurdles and more awesome sceneries of the city.

I finally made it to top and trust me, the saying that the view is better at the top is overwhelmingly true, I had to shed some clothing as it was pretty hot and although the clouds were messing with my pictures of the city below, I was able to get a couple. I was 2195 feet above sea level and it was awesome.
