Living Abroad and the fat that comes with it

When someone tells you that you’ve added weight, or that your face is fat like in my case or anything relating to adding a few pounds, take it serious. Don’t be like me. Don’t be in a state of denial just like I was until reality hit me. It took selecting a dress for a dinner with plans to change at a friends’s place only to find out that my dress did not fit, 1 hour to dinner time. It was tight in the mid region and closing the zip became a hassle.

Weight

The truth is working out here is difficult. In Lagos, I would wake up at 6:00 am and go for a run, although my apartment building had a gym, I am more of an outdoor runner. I don’t know why but my feet hurts when I use a treadmill. When I moved here, I kept my daily routine but I just couldn’t keep up. Winter came along and that was the beginning of the end. Running in the cold is crazy. The difficulty is beyond me and I honestly don’t get how the few people who do, do it. I tried to go to the gym twice for core exercise but my schedule wouldn’t let me anymore.

This morning was my first time at the gym in almost 3 months, my shift dresses now feel like body con and I look absurd in my body con dresses. My skirts cannot notch. Today, I used the thread mil, I hated it, my legs hurt but I would rather my legs hurt than become overweight. The food here also doesn’t help, it is more affordable to buy junks and soda than to buy healthy food. Buying whole food can be double price. I have tried to have my last meal at 7:00 pm but my schedule is crazy and I only lasted 3 days plus this takes a whole lot more discipline than I thought.

I don’t want to get started on how expensive it is to buy Nigerian food stuff at the supermarket or at restaurants. I need help.

18th Feb. 2020. I am struggling to fit in my clothes.
