The dawn of the New Decade; My New Year in New York Experience

I shared it with no one like I do with most things, I kept it in head and chased it. Call it flimsy, but the one thing I had in my head was that I would usher the new decade at the #TimesSquare in #NewYork. For effect, I call it New Year in New York 😀 . Travelstart as always was the plug for my tickets and you should totally try them out. The question as to whether I would do the New Year in New York again is one and whether it was as amazing as I thought it will be is definitely another one.

However, I enjoy every experience, the good, the bad and the ugly. Getting Lost 😯 , Shivering in the cold 😥 , Standing throughout the night 😐 , Bumping into Strangers 😳 , Dealing with Rude People 😡 , making New Friends 🙂 , and meeting people who give you hope that people are still human were the highlights of my New Year’s Eve. I am not sure I will do it again, I would definitely love to spend the year in another amazing city however, I am glad I ticked it off.

I love life on the roll and definitely considered living and working in NY but I am beginning to have doubts. The crowd is crazy, its like a bunch of ants over there, people bust into you and hardly will you hear a courteous apology, and its really dirty. One thing I love and which I do not get in DC are the Halal food trucks which are quite affordable, you have to be careful though, some of them can be dirty.

If you have Times Square on your list and would like to tick it off I recommend the following

a. Get there early, I got into time square narrowly, the square was already being barricaded with no entrance at 3pm on the 31st.

b. Once you are in, do not leave the square. If you do, you miss it all.

c. Want some comfort, book a hotel at the square, hopefully where they have a rooftop where you can view the action.

d. Cant afford a hotel? Make a dinner reservation at the hotel

e. Whatever happens, keep a positive energy and have a nice time.

f. Backpacks and Umbrellas are not allowed. Dropping off mine at a storage cost me $20

g. Have your water bottle handy

h. Dress for the cold, have a raincoat too

New Year in New York

I met amazing people in New York. I also met people who complained if you touched them slightly amidst a crowd even if you apologized. The Square was crowded, I honestly wondered how anyone will take such up in such an atmosphere. They definitely crazy 😕 , why not stay home and watch from your house if you wanted to be finicky. If you are ever in New York, I recommend a leisurely stroll on the Brooklyn Bridge, A view of Downtown Manhattan from the observation deck of the Empire State Building and maybe watch a Broadway show.

I have definitely started considering places to spend the dawn of New Year 2021 and Paris comes to mind but I think I’ll ditch the big cities. I’m thinking fireworks on a beach location, weird yeah? Weirdly I’d love to with family or maybe friends and not go solo this time. I would love to share it with people close to my ❤️.

Any ideas on what destination will be perfect ?  I’d love to know in the comment section and If you would like to come with me, i’m sure we will find amazing deals on TravelStart. Just drop a comment below.
